Greg shootingThe Medway Park Crusaders Basketball Club have signed Swiss point guard Greg Currat from Swiss Division 2 side Villars Basket, where he played with former Crusader, Canadian Walter Moyse.

The contact between Currat and Crusaders was made through Moyse: “I first saw Greg a couple of years ago when I went to watch Walter in Switzerland”, says Crusaders Club Chairman Jesse Sazant. “I immediately thought he was the type of player we wanted at Crusaders. After waiting for him to complete his teacher training last year we are really pleased to get him.”

Currat averaged 12 points last season, while hitting more than half his shots inside the arc, and a third of his three point shots. He was named as one of the pillars of the Villas team, and played 30 minutes a game, good for second best on the team, behind only their import player.

Crusaders head coach Mads Olesen is looking forward to including Currat in the squad: “I expect Greg to push the pace for us a lot. He’s got a steady shooting hand, but I’m also expecting him to be able set up our other scorers and lead us defensively”.

Currat made the change to the Medway club because he was looking for new challenges: “I am very pleased to be part of the Medway Park Crusaders. I have been playing Second Division basketball in Switzerland for the last 4 years and I am looking forward to a new experience. I will do my best to help the team achieve its goals and to get promoted next year. I can’t wait to meet the members of the team, including the staff and all the people involved with the Crusaders.”
