The Medway Park Crusaders will look to avenge their Patrons Cup defeat at the hands of Edmonton Storm and their league opening loss last weekend to the Durham Wildcats.
For the Patrons Cup fixture against Edmonton the Crusaders were hit hard as the swine flu decimated the team. During the week leading up to the game five of ten players were hit by the virus. Captain Sam Betts, big man JP Dimandja and point guards Tom Raymen and Jeff Wadey were unable to participate in the game while shooting guard James Harris recovered sufficiently to take part in the game, although he was far from 100%.
While the short-handed Crusaders put up a good fight they were unable to weather the Storm. Edmonton came out gunning in the first quarter and Crusaders were never able to take the lead and Edmonton picked up the win, 93-83.
This time around the Crusaders will have a full squad as there are no current injuries, and according to captain Sam Betts the team is hungry for a victory: “The players are looking forward to matching up against Edmonton with a full squad as we endeavour to get our first victory of the league season.”
